StarBar at Superbucks feat. SuperSuren

You know you've made it big when...

1. You have legions of groupies posting on your "different from any other" blog.

2. Your bassist is so famous that other websites start giving him nicknames.

3. Google knows your rhythm guitarist's real name.

4. Your lead guitarist is an Indian who talks like a Chinese.

5. You're playing at the biggest coffee chain in the world.

Okay, so maybe number four is stretching it a little, but by now, you've probably already realised that this is a shameless publicity plug to tell you that yes - Superbar will be playing at Starbucks. Dates are below.

STARBUCKS COFFEE DAMANSARA UP-TOWN 21 OCT (9PM-11PM)

STARBUCKS COFFEE PLAZA DAMAS 22 OCT (9PM-11PM)

STARBUCKS COFFEE BORDERS BOOKSTORE, BERJAYA TIMES SQUARE 27 OCT (8PM-10PM)

Pretty cool yea? We're not sure exactly what time our time slot will be, but you guys shouldn't care, since there'll be other awesome people performing with us, like Mei Chern, Qings & Kueens. We'll be playing a stripped down acoustic half-hour set this time, so don't expect the usual panty-flinging.

We'd love to buy you coffee for coming on down, but it's against our religion or something.

The Starlight & Live8...mere coincidence or timely fate?

SuperBar

Right after our last gig at Starlight, I got home just in time to see Dido, Green Day and Black Eyed Peas on Live8, the sequel to Africa Aid and a call to world leaders of the G8 summit to end poverty and cancel African debt.

It did feel kinda cool to hit the stage just hours before the biggest names in music did.

Although we had nothing to do with Live8 (Bono didn't return our calls), just watching it extended the good vibes I got playing for everyone at Starlight.

Thanks again for making it our biggest and best gig so far.

Remember to check out live8live.com for more details on how you can make a difference and ensure the world's a great place to be in for generations to come.

Superbar is changing their name

who's wearing the pants?
After making a commitment to our fans, and listening to their advice, we have decided as a band to change our name. We got this idea for a name from a fan currently identified as Incube, who posted this on his website.

" aku rasa band suren ni patut tukar nama jadi supersuren .." - http://taknak.blogspot.com

After careful consideration, we realised that he was right. SuperSuren does sound infinitely more catchy.

Besides... who wears the pants (and cool hat) in the band anyway?

How were we?

I have to admit. we were pretty nervous before the gig. i think we all admitted it at some point or other (me in front of the camera). after all, this is the biggest audience we've ever played to. we thought... what if they don't react? what if our sound sucks? what if we just fuck up?

well, the sound did kinda suck, and we did fuck up quite a bit here and there, but you guys sure didn't seem to mind! AWESOME...

thanks to you all for making us feel like a band appreciated, and not just a time filler before two movies we wouldn't watch (except with hot chicks like you, of course).

i think we all agreed that this was probably one of the best gigs we've played, and we have you to thank for that. special mention goes to a small group of women right up in front. when we saw them cheering so enthusiastically, we asked each other,

"wah azuan... your friendster groupies ar?"

"eh... i ingat bala punya fan club"

"no man, not mine... mine over there..."

"sen? suren?"

"nope, his one just his girlfriend. mine didn't even come... cibai"

"chak?"

"FUCKING HELL! We got real GROUPIES!!! WOOO!"

anyhows... not only to those lovely ladies, but to each and every guy or gal who woo-hooed or clapped... thank you, and we're glad we could spend a short time entertaining you. do leave us a comment about our performance if you like. we had an awesome time, and we sure hope you did too.

if i seem a little subdued, it's only because my shift key is fucked.

PS: trina - thanks for the nachos... they were good.

Starlight Cinema

Finally, after a long two years on the bench, we're gearing up for what is definitely going to be our biggest gig so far. Sure, we wanted to play on Batman Begins night, but bigger nights belong to bigger bands. In this case, OneBuckShort, whom we've performed with on two previous occasions. And now they're on MTV.

So which movie night did we get?

*drum roll*

Miss Congeniality 2 and Bridget Jones Diary 2!

Yeah, wipe that smirk off your face boy. We're choosing to take away the positives, using something called hetero-marketing. Allow me to explain.

Boy meets girl, Boy likes girl, and Linkin Park. Girl tells him he's stupid and says she likes M2M or some other sissified shit.

Here's where the magic happens. The guy will start listening to M2M, and realise that its not all that bad. Think this won't happen? Just ask our rhythm guitarist.

Now where is this all going? Well, guess which movie your lady's gonna watch? Ours. Muaha. And through the joys of hetero-marketing, we will sell at least 10,000 copies of our as-yet unreleased demo.

We were also asked to play a cover of one of the songs from either movie. Dread the worst? Come and watch us and you might be pleasantly surprised. Put it this way, the only instrument I need to sing this song is a rubber band, tied around my testers.
