The Aftermath of the Kong-ed PC

Ok, I'm not exactly in the best mood to write but I'm also not about to drag the story from the previous post on and on. So suffice to say that after some creative gadget swapping (let's not confuse the less IT literate among us, which includes me), it turns out that the hard disk wasn't affected by the lightning strike. Yeay!!

Anyway, the incident also brought out a hidden side in one band mate. We had no idea Sen Kiat was a graffiti expert!! Check out his work of art (done while waiting for the PC to be revived).

Okay, so we're exaggerating about the artistic tendencies of the band, but hey......considering the circumstances, it was something. Haha...

Speaking of graffiti, we also received some stuff from our younger fans (wah, got hard core fans already!). Check it out!

So if you guys have any spur of creativity and happen to think of superbar while you're at it, do send it to us. Receive recognition you shall. Reap off millions of bucks in mobile phone wallpaper downloads through your creativity we will! Any doubts? Let us know.

(P.S - So much for not having the mood to write)

now that was close

as some of you guys would probably have known, we've moved up a gear in coming up with the much longed for debut EP. so moving ahead with the plan, we headed over to Senzr Studio last nite to lay down some bass lines for "out of body" & "new years day". spirits being high as we kinda move closer and closer to completing the whole recording ritual, needless to say everybody's pumped up.

and then, bamm! circumstances take a weird turn for the worse. the story is sen kiat's computer got toasted from a lightning incident last nite. now, for the uninitiated, you'd probably think that that's no biggie! trivial stuff, just replace it. well....inside that computer we had about a year and a half's worth of material for recording, countless of new partially completed tracks and stuff. now that's some pretty heavy shit going on.
sighhh......

you can probably picture the kancheong-ness that caused. and as a testament to it, this is how we reacted. sen kiat called for back up and got it. bala sang renditions of "helter skelter" and found new musical uses of for personal care items. and i took photos.

agony written all over

no slide? no problem!

more about what happened in the next posting. mean time, more pictures for everyone to ignore.

all the guitars in the world couldn't save the day....bala's el diablo missing from this pic

Superbar Interview in NST

Didn't I say that things better things were coming in Superbar's direction? We were recently interviewed and featured on the New Straits Times (Adlin: thanks for the interview man) For those of you who missed it, fret not, we've taken the liberty of scanning the article here.

In the interview, Bala had decided to let out a big Superbar secret - why our songs do not stick to the normal 3 minutes you'd normally expect on the radio, but instead chooses to stray past 4 minutes and well into 6 minutes in the case of "Same Way I Do". Read on. Get to know a little about the band's humble beginnings from front man, Chak.

We've even created a whole new genre for alternative rock: metrosexual rock. Talk about trailblazing! Curious? Check us out at the Klue Starbucks Music Series on 21, 22 & 27 Oct. We'll be playing along side Jerome Kugan, Izzy, Rhapsody and Kluk Kluk Adventure.

In keeping up with changing times and technologies, Superbar has finally embraced the wonders of social networking by being part of the Myspace community. Be sure to check out our Myspace segment, with samples of our soon to be released EP and other interesting updates.

Lied

Just wanted to post something here about a band that's starting to make waves. For those of you who have watched 8TV's Homegrown last week, the band's called Lied and their sound is reminiscent to that of Tool and A Perfect Circle, with some influences from the spacey sounds of Depeche Mode (at least that's what I think lah!)

Anyway, you may ask, why is this so important? Well, that's because the band comprises of none other that Superbar's very own rhythm guitarist, Sen Kiat & drummer, Ajuon! Besides Homegrown, they recently performed an acoustic set on Xfresh.fm and most recently there's a write up on them in The Star.

A sign of better things to come for Superbar as well? Let's keep our fingers crossed. Btw, the Starbucks Music Series, in which we're playing in starts next week. Be there by the bus loads!!

Cheers!

Moving up a notch

Okay, this has nothing to do with the band but I thought I'd announce it anyway. I'm moving out of my current house in Tmn Desa (where I've been staying with Bala a.k.a Global A). And where will I be moving? Palm Spring @ Damansara!!! Yup, I'll be adding to the already screwed up jam typical of Kota Damansara. So, to all those spammers & people who have been jamming my mailbox, please take note.

Been moving a shit load of stuff and the reason I'm blogging is because I'm still waiting for the truck to come by and pick up my stuff. Not that I have too much stuff but I prefer taking my time to look at which fragments of my past I'd wanna take along with me. (if you know what I mean)

Anyway, to those who do live at Palm Spring, do drop by and say hello.....preferably with enough booze or DVDs. To bandmates, help me move la wei!!!

StarBar at Superbucks feat. SuperSuren

You know you've made it big when...

1. You have legions of groupies posting on your "different from any other" blog.

2. Your bassist is so famous that other websites start giving him nicknames.

3. Google knows your rhythm guitarist's real name.

4. Your lead guitarist is an Indian who talks like a Chinese.

5. You're playing at the biggest coffee chain in the world.

Okay, so maybe number four is stretching it a little, but by now, you've probably already realised that this is a shameless publicity plug to tell you that yes - Superbar will be playing at Starbucks. Dates are below.

STARBUCKS COFFEE DAMANSARA UP-TOWN 21 OCT (9PM-11PM)

STARBUCKS COFFEE PLAZA DAMAS 22 OCT (9PM-11PM)

STARBUCKS COFFEE BORDERS BOOKSTORE, BERJAYA TIMES SQUARE 27 OCT (8PM-10PM)

Pretty cool yea? We're not sure exactly what time our time slot will be, but you guys shouldn't care, since there'll be other awesome people performing with us, like Mei Chern, Qings & Kueens. We'll be playing a stripped down acoustic half-hour set this time, so don't expect the usual panty-flinging.

We'd love to buy you coffee for coming on down, but it's against our religion or something.

Things being pretty silent

It's been one and a half months since the last posting on the blog. So what have we been up to since? After the rounds of gigging (Paul's Place & Starlight Cinema) and the promising reviews we've been getting, it's about time to put the music into recording mode. All made possible through Senzr Studio, Taman Tun. :p

Songs like Dreams, Same Way I Do, Lazy Sunday and Rollercoaster, which we have been playing in past gigs are definitely on list. Besides that, you can probably expect to hear 2 newer tracks (New Years Day & a yet to be named track) in the near future.

Do stay tune cos there's loads of things in store in months to come; the long-awaited demo/EP, more gigs on the way, Bala settling down (not!!). Cheers!
